Thomson Road Hospital in 1959

Thomson Road Hospital was official opened in 1959. It was initially designated to care for the chronic sick and to accommodate spillover patients from the then Sepoy Lines General Hospital (present day Singapore General Hospital).

In 1975, the Thomson Road General Hospital was renamed Toa Payoh Hospital to identify with Singapore’s first new town which residents it served.
